On June 16, 2011 the Central Bank of the Russian Federation issues a silver proof commemorative coin in denomination of 2 Roubles of the series "The Year of the Italian Culture and the Italian Language in Russia and the Year of the Russian Culture and the Russian Language in Italy" (fine metal content 20,35g, fineness 925/1000, catalogue number 5110-0108, diameter 34,0 mm, mintage up to 10 000 pcs). The coin has the rim raised on both sides of the coin along the circumference.
The obverse side of the coin depicts the relief image of Saint George the Victorious sitting on horseback and spearing a dragon. The inscription under it indicates the denomination of the coin "2 РУБЛЯ" (2 ROUBLES) and the year of issue "2011". The inscriptions along the rim say: "ГОД РОССИЙСКОЙ КУЛЬТУРЫ И РУССКОГО ЯЗЫКА В ИТАЛИИ" (THE YEAR OF THE RUSSIAN CULTURE AND THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE IN ITALY), and "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA) at the top and at the bottom respectively, between them - the indication of the metal according to the D.I. Mendeleyev Periodic System of Elements, the purity, the trade mark of the Saint-Petersburg mint and the fine precious metal content.
The reverse side of the coin depicts the relief image of a church, the inscriptions along the rim are: at the top – "ХРАМ–ПОДВОРЬЕ СВЯТИТЕЛЯ ЧУДОТВОРЦА НИКОЛАЯ" (THE TOWN CHURCH OF ST. NICHOLAS, THE WONDERWORKER OF MYRA IN LYCIA), and at the bottom - "БАРИ" (BARI).
The edge of the coin is corrugated.
The coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation. They are obligatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value.
